I tested positive for Covid one week before my spring concert. I did everything in my power to try and reschedule the concert and I was upfront with parents as to why the concert had been canceled. Most parents responded back with well wishes and hopes for a speedy recovery. One parent decided she needed to attack me for taking away the “kids’ joy of being able to perform” despite the fact that there are two other performances left for the school year. And when I didn’t respond right away, because I was out with Covid, she decided she needed to email a second time trying persuading me that the concert needs to be put back on. I’m thankful that my principal has my back on this because otherwise I would be forced to have my kids put on a performance that they’re not ready for and that I’m quite honestly unable to make it through because Covid put me through the ringer. But “kids first.” Sure ????
