We had to have a formal meeting and everything where I was informed by my principal that I was no longer allowed to write my dates with slashes because it was too confusing for the coordinator… experienced three years of similar mental abuse before a took a huge pay cut for a better work environment. Best decision ever.

Each student met with the principal, during this meeting students were told that they’re a distraction and to conform to gender norms or they would be dismissed from our public high school. A trans student was told to take her bra off because her chest was a distraction. Another student was sent to the bathroom to scrub his face clean of all make up. This not only speaks to the intolerance of admin but also their incompetence.

I don’t blame you for leaving and I’m happy that you did so. I used to be a SPED teacher and completely understand. What you were written up for is ridiculous and honestly stupid. Like you, I took a major pay cut for a better job and work environment, and it was totally worth it. I am now under a management that treats me with complete respect, values me, and actually listens to my concerns while also helping me to be proactive about those concerns. Screw public education and education leaders that treat others like shit.
