A few months ago, before students arrived, a parent hit the gas instead of the break and her car went through the building. It was in a classroom. By the grace of God, the teacher was not killed.

Several weeks later, after being promised by the district that mountains would be moved to help the teacher, teachers came together to clean her room of glass, motor oil, and dust because NOTHING, besides a temporary wall, had been done. She was back her room after spring break because of colleagues.

Fast forward to today. A colleague attended a professional development in a newly purchased district building and guess what was happening- construction. A CAR went through a classroom and 4 months later NOTHING has been done. But at the new fancy building, things are happening.

I am livid, resentful, and disappointed but sadly, not surprised.

So as we all know, it’s teacher appreciation week. For our Wednesday “gift,” the students got an early release, and staff were required to stay until 3. The best part? We had to do REQUIRED community service during the afternoon before we could leave.
